iVG™ Internal Valve Gate


Clean, Compact and Durable
The new Rheo-Pro® iVG™ is the world's first and only internal valve gate nozzle. It is the only pneumatic valve gate hot runner that operates entirely without elastomeric seals, lubricants, or cylinder cooling. Unlike electric actuators, the iVG™ can operate at extreme temperatures of up to 400°C (750°F). Its patented design completely rewrites the rules of valve gating technology and creates endless new possibilities, from high cavitation to single drop hot runner systems.

High Cavitation Molds
Space inside the mold is valuable. The patented design of Rheo-Pro® iVG™ nozzles makes it possible to build extremely compact single face molds as well as back-to-back 'short stacks' or stack molds with a tip-to-tip length of only 285 mm and a pitch or gate-to-gate distance of 63.5 mm. The space efficient internal valve gate offers exciting new options for tool makers and OEMs seeking the most competitive injection molding solutions including single face molds, stack molds, rotating cube molds, and multi-material injection molds. For molders, the ability to produce more plastic parts in smaller machines with less clamp tonnage means better operating costs, significantly higher production outputs and most importantly, more profitability.

Rheo-Pro® iVG™ back-to-back 'short stack' systems are extremely compact and offer unprecedented stack heights and gate-to-gate spacing



For example, at a 3.0 second cycle time, a 64+64 stack mold for 26 mm light weight bottle caps can produce 3.5 million parts per day in a 790 x 630 mm stack mold. The melt channels are reduced in size, length and volume to enhance color change and pressure drop for higher viscosity materials. The new iVG™ back-to-back valve gate nozzle increases mold uptime and improves conventional manifold systems. The valve-to-valve melt transfer through the mold parting surface eliminates the traditional sprue bar.



Ultimate Reliability and Simplicity

The main advantage of iVG™ valve gates, aside from their compact dimensions, is durability. Their simple design eliminates all common wear components such as o-ring seals. The nozzles are completely front-serviceable from the mold parting line. Every component, including nozzles, valve actuators and valve pins, can be accessed quickly by simply stripping the cavity plate onto the core side while the entire mold remains inside the machine. Preventative maintenance is effectively reduced to minutes.

Bring on the Heat
iVG™ nozzles perform even under the most demanding processing conditions. Unlike electric valve gates and conventional pneumatic cylinders, that can fail in extremely hot operating environments, the internal valve gate performs at temperatures up to 400°C. iVG™ hot runners do not require any seals, hoses, tubes, belts, motors, or cooling, making them the most durable and maintenance friendly valve gate system ever built.

Stack Molds for All Part Sizes
The versatile range of iVG™ nozzles opens up new possibilities for cost effective production with all stack mold and tandem mold applications. In addition to back-to-back valve gating, the new technology can also be used inside a stack mold as a simple and reliable way to transfer melt from the stationary mold to the first parting line. The larger iVG30 nozzle can be extended and comes with melt bore diameters up to 20 mm. This is an easy and effective way to double production of large and heavy weight parts.

Single Bushings

Rheo-Pro® iVG™ single bushings for single cavity molds meet the industry's demand for a valve gate hot runner with a short stack height, that is in-line with the injection molding machine barrel. With a minimum distance from the top clamp plate to the gate of only 87.5 mm (iVGSN23) and 127.5 mm (iVGSN30), the steel thickness requirement for the mold is significantly reduced, saving steel cost, machining cost, mold weight, and stack height. The nozzle can be "dropped in" from the back of the mold, simplifying installation and allowing the mold to have a stationary side with a single plate.





iVG30 single bushing valve gate systems are the most compact in the industry, ranging in length from 127.5 mm to 1000 mm, with a 18 mm melt bore and a 6.0 mm valve pin diameter
